Life Lately: June, July & August

IMG_4308

So Summer, that’s a thing that’s happening right now. I have been so offline compared to past summers and that’s because I have just been way more busy not just with work life but also with personal life. I’ve been traveling a lot more on my days off, spending time with my family and friends, going out, doing things.

Right now my family is in the middle of harvest, we’ve had a bit of a rough start to the season. We had some machines rebel against us, so we had to make some decisions on how we were going to handle them. This made me so stressed out, where we are also had a heat wave which didn’t help anything. We’ve made it through unscaved basically and are back on track with our harvest. Right now I’m working 10-18 hour days so I don’t have much of social life just because I’m so tired after work. I’m glad harvest is only about a month and half long.

I haven’t done a life lately since sometime in the spring, so since then I’ve had my half birthday, in June, that was really fun to celebrate with my family and one of my pen pals/friends/brain twin sent me a fantastic little package. I made myself confetti cupcakes, and my mom gave me a unicorn topper kit for decorating. My boyfriend gave me a Fluffy from Despicable Me Pop Funko which is super adorable. It was a great day!

In July I went to a Geek Girl Brunch in Portland, it’s the closest chapter to me. We went to Sandy Hut, which is this grungy little dive bar that has an amazing breakfast that is inexpensive. The mimosas were $3.00 each way better than like $7 like at some places (or more). I also loved that the chapter leaders made up these amazing coloring books and gave us crayons. It was also so, so great to meet Mercedes finally. We’ve been friends on twitter and talk, but it’s so great to put a face to the name. That day was full of making friends, and hanging out. I can not wait to go to the one in September. I get really nervous before going to them, because I feel like no one is going to like me or talk to me and it’s always the opposite. GGB is such a fantastic community and I’m happy to be part of it.

I haven’t really been playing a ton of video games lately because of work. But I have really been enjoying Albion Online and Splatoon 2. Splatoon just had a splat fest of Mayo vs. Ketchup. I picked team Ketchup, because hello, it’s Ketchup. But I guess Mayo won…? I think its garbage how so many people picked team ketchup that there were tons of Ketchup vs Ketchup matches and those didn’t count towards the totals. Apparently this is an ongoing problem… *sigh* I hope they fix it in the near future. Not sure how many more Splat Fests I’ll be doing if this is their attitude. As for Albion Online, I’m going to do a whole separate post about it. I really enjoy the game, I’m a solo player – no guild- which some say is the “wrong way” to play but I disagree. It’s a great game for me to play this time of year because it’s very much a grindfest which takes little thoughts. Additionally the combat is simple and fun.

I started a brand new bullet journal this month, I found one that was on sale and I think I’m ready to get back into it. I used a bullet journal system, before it was know as bullet journaling. I used my system all through middle & high school, and into college. Then I used it organize my social irl life and my social internet life. Since finding the Erin Condren Life Planner I thought it would be a bit much to keep both up, so I’ve just been using the ECLP. But I really miss my bullet journal, and it works so well for me. I’m almost done with the ECLP so in 2018 I will be using a bullet journal and a recollections planner from Michael’s. Way less expensive than the ECLP, and planning, in my opinion, should be inexpensive (I got my recollections planner for about $15, while an Erin Condren can cost between $55-$60).

I’m also using my bullet journal for the Iggle Daily Journal prompts, it’s fun to put a bit of a spin on my old system, and make it accommodate new things. I also got a new toy, it the HP Sprocket that prints little pictures that are stickers you can stick to things. It’s been a ton of fun to incorporate them into my journal so far. The first spread I did for August is meant to celebrate Harry Potter because that Monday before the first was the 31st and Harry Potter’s birthday. I did red and yellow for Gryffindor and had these two really cool washi tapes that were perfect for the spread.  If you like seeing bullet journal spreads, or planning related stuff I share my spreads on my dedicated instagram.

This week is IGGPPCamp! It’s my third time going to camp, and am so excited. I got sorted into Troop Chimera. I also made a map of the campgrounds for in my bullet journal in the IGGPPCamp section. I think it turned out pretty cool.

iggleflicks watch a long schedual for camp

I’m part of Iggle Flicks and we will be hosting a bunch of watch-a-longs during camp. Mine isn’t until Sunday evening. When I thought I would have time off/be done with work. From what I’ve seen so far, all the activities look super fun this year! I have an activity that will be live on Saturday, so keep an eye out for it! (I’ll put a link HERE when it goes live) Until then enjoy this sneak peak:

I’m sure I have more to share but I can’t think of anything right now, haha. So for now we’re caught up. Hopefully once work calms down a bit I can get back on a regular schedule of posting things. Thanks for hanging in there with me! ❤

My First Plan With Me!

I had so much fun filming my very first Plan With Me! I loved planning with one of my favorite shop’s (Boulderbon) kit. She has amazingly affordable stickers & kits, not to mention her Monthly Sticker Bundle.

Be sure to watch all the way to the end for a flip through of the kit I’m giving away, then head on over to my instagram for the details of the giveaway.

Geekery of the Month: What. The. FLOCK!?!

What. The. FLOCK!?!

I am so obsessed with flamingos right now, which is really surprising me. First of all I kinda hate pink, like some times it’s ok, but in general it doesn’t even enter my mind when asked what my favorite color is. Second I actually really don’t like flamingos. This makes this so weird right? Well it’s more the spirit of the flamingos I’m in love with, or at least how they have been ‘rebranded’ such as “Zero Flocks Given” “Stand Tall Darling” or “Be A Flamingo in a Flock of Pigeons.” Those are all ideas I can get behind, flamingos also celebrate summer, and I am SO READY for summer. Not the working part, but the weather part. I love heat, sun, loud music, and good vibes!

Life Lately: March

96cb1731882d097cff8ac94ab6604607February just flew by! I can’t believe it’s March already, but I think Oregon hasn’t gotten the memo yet. I woke up this morning to snow. I like snow, but I’m ready for Spring, mostly because I want to wear flip flops again!  This is going to be a bit of a long post, a lot happened in the last month! So grab a cup of coffee and let’s get started!

Iggle Daily Journal: February 2017

I get a pat on the back for last month. I am terrible at completing “challenges” such as 30 day photo challenges or anything along similar lines. But I always give them a go (its like a bad addiction for me I guess), so last month I decided to try out the Iggle Daily Journal Challenge. Technically it would be my second time completing it, as I did it in January as well, but I didn’t share because I was trying to get use to doing it.

Geekery of the Month: Ready, Set, Bake

Ready, Set, Bake

This month I’ve been baking a ton so it seemed fitting to have it be my Geekery of the Month. How cute is that apron? I actually don’t wear one when I bake/cook. I find them annoying, but like the idea of them. That is probably really weird sounding, but that’s just me I guess. haha.
Be sure to check out my  Great Iggle Bake Off posts, Bread, Cake ( coming tomorrow!). And check the IGGPPC Forum for more info, and to see what others are baking. You can also use the #igglebakeoff and #igglenoms on twitter.

Introduction to Traveler’s Notebooks

Since getting into the planning community, and more into the bullet journal community I’ve come upon Traveler’s Journals. They are also known as Midori Traveler’s Notebooks. These note books have made their way across the world and call Japan home, as part of Japanese minimalism. At their most basic, generally they are a leather cover with an elastic band to hold its continues. There are many sizes to choose from, most common is the Standard (4.33X8.25in), which I use as well as what is known as a Passport size (3.4X4.9in) which I really love. I’ve also seen covers be made from cloth, and other materials.

DIY: Sticker Book

Oh hey another DIY? I guess so! This one did take me more than an hour, but I was dog sitting and didn’t have a lot to do.  From start to finish this project probably took me three and a half hours to complete. I think if I do it again I’ll do it in half the time, but I was figuring out just exactly I wanted to do, and how it was all going to work together.

DIY: Planner Cover

Who else loves to see all the cute covers people have on their planners? I know I do! I went Etsy window shopping and with shipping those cover can cost a pretty penny! I’m sure they of the most excellent quality, but I’m trying to save money this month. I know I picked an awful time for a no-spend, with the holidays and all. So my solution was to DIY a cover.  Continue reading

& We Have Kick Off!

Today is the first day of NaNo! Holy cow, I can’t believe it’s here! So an update to my planning for NaNo post, I almost completed everything that I wanted to. The notebook I was going to originally use fell apart so I had to get a new one, and rewrote my summary, which was actually a good thing because I added in more things. My printer broke last week and I had to get a new one so I did not get my mood board completed, but I still want to make one.

I’ve got a good community of people to share the journey with, and an added bonus, one of my very good friends is participating this year as well. Which I am super excited about! You can add me as a writing buddy here.

To get into the mood of NaNo I thought I would share my NaNo Survival Kit:

NaNo 2016 Survival Kit
  • Notebook: It has some lore things for world building, my over view of my story, and my summary. As well as an entire page of quotes I love to keep me motivated if I get stuck.
  • iPad: For writing on the go, I usually don’t like taking my laptop everywhere just because it is rather big, plus cords for charging, it can be a mess. I prefer my iPad for writing a lot of the time.
  • Planner: To stay organized and keep on track with word counts and goals. I made awesome sticker for my planner as well. Check them out here.
  • Coffee!: It’s no surprise that coffee is involved here. I love coffee rather than tea, I’m not sure why, but I’ve never been a huge tea drinker. I mostly only drink tea when I’m sick, and I put a ton of honey in it.
  • Pens: Gotta have something to write with! I’ve been obsessed with the Paper Mate Ink Joy gel pens. I’ve had some friends say they dry out fast but that hasn’t happened to me yet. I’ve gone through a about 6 black pens between home and work already. My orange, and blue are also almost out ( I wrote all my penpals in Orange this month + planning, and I’ve been doing NaNo planning in blue).
  • Snacks: Gotta have snacks! Lately I’ve been really into the Nature Valley Peanut butter granola bars. Delicious! I also really like snacks from NatureBox, and having hummus and veggies. I just got a huge thing of organic hummus from Costco for NaNo haha. I’m prepared!
  • Sticky Notes/Post Its: I’ve been into marble lately, I just think it’s so pretty, and I actually found some from an Etsy store. More places should make them, because I would not recommend the shop I got these from.  But I have them and am going to be using them for plot planning/layout to make sure I’ve included every scene from my summary.
  • Headphones: I know this didn’t make it in the photo, but when I go somewhere, or even at home, I like to listen to music while I write. “Get into the mood” if you will.

Are you ready for NaNo to start? What’s in your survival kit?
