I get a pat on the back for last month. I am terrible at completing “challenges” such as 30 day photo challenges or anything along similar lines. But I always give them a go (its like a bad addiction for me I guess), so last month I decided to try out the Iggle Daily Journal Challenge. Technically it would be my second time completing it, as I did it in January as well, but I didn’t share because I was trying to get use to doing it.
Happy February! February is one of my favorite months, mostly because of valentines day, but also because where I lives tends to start getting warmer in February and it even gets to where I can almost break out the flip flops. I’ve never done a life lately, so I thought why not give it a go!? I’ve been pretty busy with work recently, there are a lot of changes that I’m having to prepare for, for the next harvest. But I’ve also been taking “work hard, play hard” seriously and been giving myself lots of me time.
It’s been another week, and I have been super busy! This will be my third post this week (pats myself on the back)! For this weeks 5 Fandom Friday I decided to change the prompt a bit. The prompt is suppose to be “5 TV shows I can’t wait to watch” but after thinking about it, there really isn’t anything I’m over the moon about, or that I’m not watching already. So I thought “5 Video Games I Can’t Wait to Play” was better for me.
OMG IT’S BACK! After not doing a 5 Fandom Friday for quite sometime, I thought it would be fun to bring it back to my blog. 5 Fandom Friday was started by The Nerdy Girlie, and provides prompts for every Friday to write about (Click Here for more info & list of prompts). This weeks prompt actually goes along with #igglechat’s topic as well (there’s was Wonderlust), so it all just ties in together.
This month’s theme is all about food! Everyone loves food right!? For even more inside the theme be sure to hang out with Iggles on Twitter ever Saturday for #igglechats and check out the forum post for inside the theme this month.
1) What two edible masterpieces inspire your inner chef?
I don’t think I can say that anything (or any 2) inspire my inner chef. Because when I see an image of anything I get focused on it because my inner designer is like “oh let me break this down and figure it out.” For me it’s about the photography, and food styling that goes into that image that I tend to get more inspiration from.
In the kitchen though, I tend to inspire myself- not because of what I can make but because of the potential of what I could make because there is always something new to learn. For example a couple years ago now I really wanted macaroons but they are expensive because of the almond flour they are made out of. So I taught myself over christmas break from school. I failed A LOT. But I also learned something every time I failed, and now I can basically make them in my sleep.
2) Timeless Treasures. What family recipe do you most treasure or covet (if you don’t have it yet)?
Well my mom isn’t the best cook, and I didn’t grow up with grandparents. So I really don’t have any family recipes to speak of. But I think one of my best recipes I’ve made up is Lasagna, it’s delicious.
3) In a box? With a fox? Where would you have dinner if you could partake in a fictional feast?
Alice in Wonderland, I love that whole world of craziness. I would love to have dinner at a long, winding table. Stacked high with food, and tea. And having all of those characters chitter, chatting amongst each other.
4) A feast for the senses. Comfort food goes beyond just eating, what kitchen scent is at the top of your list?
I love having candles lit in the kitchen. After I clean I like having a clean smelling on, currently I really love Eucalyptus Mint from Bath and Body Works and my general use candle (for fall) is Pumpkin Pecan Waffles from Bath and Body Works. It seriously smells like baked goods- so delicious!
5) Most memorable or strangest meal you’ve ever eaten?!
Defiantly from when I went to Australia in the same day I tried Kangaroo (which is super yummy) and crocodile (tastes a lot like chicken, but dryer). During that trip I also tried squid for the first time, and still love it very, very much. Like every time my BF and I go out and they have calamari we get it no questions asked.
I can’t believe it’s fall already, or even September! Where did summer go?! With harvest on the farm things were just a blur of being busy. But now that harvest is over I can get back to the important things like video games, and blogging!
Harvest got over earlier this year I actually got to go to the state fair. Which was amazing, and super fun! I hadn’t been in a few years, just because we do harvest blackberries, and they tend to spill over into September for harvesting. However for this year everything was 2 weeks early.
