New Year, New Goals!

Last year I tried something new by setting new year goals rather than New Years Resolutions. Turns out that worked much better for me!

The two really big ones I shared here on my blog were to read 40 books in 2016 and to write more. I did accomplish both of these with the addition of improving my lifestyle (being healthier; drink more water, eat less junk food, loose weight, exercise more).

So my year in review for 2016 in short is I read 45 books, I wrote a novel in NaNoWriMo, I lost 15 pounds by eating healthier,  exercising, cutting out soda, and drinking more water. I formed new friendships, and did some super fun traveling. Nothing really bad happened directly to me, just the opposite actually. I had a lot of good happen to me, which after 2014 & 2015 was really needed.

2016 was sort of a journey of self love and rediscovery of self. I do love myself, but after dealing with the hardship of the previous two years, I really needed to show myself love and do things for me.Which was all a huge success!

So what about 2017? Well I have a few more goals for this year:

  1. Drink 64 oz of water everyday.
  2. Exercise 2-3 times per week.
  3. Cook & eat at home at least 5 times per week.
  4. Blog consistently twice a week.
  5. Save money!
  6. Make a budget & stick to it.
  7. Read 50 books.
  8. Self love ❤
  9. Skype more consistently with Erica.
  10. Sell my second car (at some point during the year).

Wish me luck! I think all of these are very doable. I’m already doing five of them, so it’s just adding five more.

Do you make New Year Resolutions/Goals? Were you successful with any goals you made in 2016?

I also found a new hobby (I guess that’s what it could be considered!?) with planning this year. It’s really been helping with my anxiety. It’s oddly relaxing, and its fun to share on Instagram. I first stumbled upon this hobby by just looking up planners because I needed one for work. Then I discovered a whole community of fantastic people who are deeply passionate about planning. The best way for me to explain it is it’s like creating a work of art that is representative of a persons life through out a week. I’ve really loved meeting so many great people, and seeing such creativity. It’s really rather inspiring.
