So I Don’t Have To Dream Alone

IMG_9188

Dreamcatchers have become synonymous with summer for me, I love them, from the way they look to the mythology behind them. Did you know Dreamcatchers come from Native American traditions? They believed that Dreamcatchers would protect the sleeping from negative dreams, while letting positive dreams through. Positive dreams would slip through the hole at the center, while negative dreams would get tangled in the web and would perish at the new day’s first light.

So let the good vibes roll with these super easy and fun easy to make Dreamcatchers!

What You’ll Need:

IMG_9173

  • Wooden Embroidery Hoop
  • Washi Tape
  • Yarn
  • Felt, needle, and a bit of fluff
  • Pony Beads
  • Wooden Beads
  • Charms
  • Feathers
  • Piece of Wire for hanging
  • Leather Strips
  • Anything else that is fun that you would want to include

Instructions:

  1. Start by covering your embroidery hoop with washi tape.
  2. photo-25-500x500Wrap the yarn around the hoop in creative ways- you can eaither just go for it and make sort of a spiderweb pattern, or you can make a more traditional pattern with the yarn.
  3. Make sure the yarn is tight. If you’re feeling confident in your yarn wrapping ways then you can include charms as you go. *If necessary you can use hot glue to make sure it’s tight in places*
  4. Sowing step! You can make a heart, a star, a unicorn,  or anything else you want for this step. Make 2 outlines that will be cut out and sewn together, adding the bit of fluff so it’s a bit puffy. (You also don’t have to do this step, the dream catcher is anything you want it to be!)
  5. This is the dangly bits part, so you now want to attach what you’ve sewn plus a feather, origami, or whatever else to the bottom of the embroidery hoop.
  6. Secure wire, or ribbon to the top of the hoop for easy hanging.
  7. Hang on wall You’re all done!

#ReadThemAllThon Revenge Of The Witch Review

I’ve finished my first book for the #ReadThemAllThon! Revenge of the Witch was a really quick read for me, and about half way through it dawned on me that the story sounded so familiar because I had seen the movie. I didn’t care for the movie much, but it was alright. Which is what this book was.

Books I’ve been Reading: June & July

I actually got a lot of reading done in July! I thought I was maybe going to get through one book, when I really got through two! Yay! In July I read The Magicians with my friends Bree & Ann, and This Savage Song. In June I read Starflight (which was also an Iggle Bookworms pick) and Four. These are my thoughts…

Geekery of the Month: PokemonGo

This month I’m starting quite a few new series, this is the first. A monthly geekery wishlist of whatever it is I’m into at the moment. Since I just started the #ReadThemAllThon and I’m still obsessed with PokemonGo I’m choosing Pokemon! Etsy is one of my favorite places on the internet for shopping. There is so many creative, talented individuals and I’m so glad I can support some of them!
