E32016 In Review; UibSoft

UbiSoft’s games are usually pretty forgettable for me, and there’s nothing wrong with that however when UbiSoft’s showcase rolls around I look forward to Aisha Tyler hosting. She is SAVAGE and I love her for it. Cracking jokes left and right, not taking it serious, it’s amazing.

I’ll admit the opening dance number did terrify me, but I think it was the best route they could have take for Just Dance 2017. From then on though the show was so enjoyable and there are a few games scattered through out that I’m interested in, so better than EA (but it’s not hard to beat, let’s be real here).

If you missed the showcase you can watch it here:

The Games & Some Thoughts:

  • Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wild Lands Releasing March 7, 2017
    • The Santa Blanca drug cartel has transformed the beautiful South American country of Bolivia into a perilous narco-state, leading to lawlessness, fear, and rampant violence. The citizens of Bolivia have been plagued by the criminal influence of the cartel, but all hope is not lost. Now only the Ghosts, an elite US Special Forces team, can save the country from complete collapse. Armed with their tactical prowess and the latest weapons technology, the Ghosts will have to go deep behind enemy lines to complete their most dangerous mission to date. They’ll have to annihilate the alliance between the corrupted government and the cartel before the evil rises above Bolivia to become a major threat across the globe. Facing an almighty adversary in a massive, hostile environment, you will have to muster your strength, hone your skills, and sharpen your mettle to become a Ghost and take Bolivia back from its criminal tyrants.
    • I thought this game was more like a GTA game than a Ghost Recon.
  • South Park The Fractured But Whole Releasing December 6, 2016
    • In the quiet mountain town of South Park, darkness has spread across the land. A new power is rising to combat this evil. An entire squad of superheroes will rise, led by a nocturnal scavenger sworn to clean the trash can of South Park society. The kids are playing superheroes, and Cartman is determined to turn Coon and Friends into the biggest superhero franchise of all time. However, the villainous Professor Chaos emerges with an evil plan to eliminate Coon and Friends. The heroes need to work as a team to fight the chaos and terror that that grips the town.
    • I don’t like South Park, I find the humor slightly to crude for me, however I did LOVE Stick of Truth. If you haven’t played it watch for it to go on sale on Steam and give it a go, you’ve got nothing to loose. That being said, I am so excited for this next chapter in the games. I loved this trailer, so, so much.
  • The Division: The Underground DLC Pack Releasing June 28, 2016
    • In DLC Expansion I: Underground, dive into the underbelly of New York with up to three friends to save what remains. Explore the randomly generated mazes of subways, tunnels, and sewers to fight deadly enemies and recover powerful loot. Experience an all-new incursion and find the latest weapons, gear and more.
    • I loved the Division when it was released. But it’s fallen off the radar for me, I don’t really think this DLC pack is going to bring it back. However I have heard talk about a Division movie, that I think would add a ton, and I would be very excited to see something like that. For those still playing, be sure to grab you free outfits for Ubi’s 30th anniversary.
  • Star Trek Bridge Crew (VR)
    • Watch as Star Trek alums Levar Burton, Jeri Ryan, and Karl Urban reveal and play Star Trek: Bridge Crew for the first time and discover the immersive Star Trek experience in Virtual Reality (VR). Developed specifically for VR, Star Trek: Bridge Crew is the only game to offer a true-to-life level of immersion in the Star Trek universe, where- as officers of the Federation- every action and decision you make together will determine the fate of your ship and crew.
  • For Honor Releasing 2.14.17
    • Watch the For Honor story campaign cinematic trailer and enter the chaos of a raging war. Play as a Knight, Viking, or Samurai in a fast-paced and immersive experience, mixing skill with visceral, never-before-seen melee combat. Immerse yourself in a single player tale and embody heroes of all three factions to ensure the survival of your people and foil the plans of the merciless and bloodthirsty warlord, Apollyon. For an added adrenaline rush, the singleplayer campaign is also fully playable cooperatively. Coordination and communication with your band of warriors will be the key to owning the battlefield!
  • Grow Up Releasing August 2016
    • Grow Up is a joyful and ageless fantasy game. BUD, a clumsy and charming robot, is on a mission to find MOM, his parental spaceship. Leap, bounce, and float in a vast open world as BUD explores the new planet in this beautiful acrobatic adventure.
  • Trials of the Dragon Blood Releasing TBA
    • Trials of the Blood Dragon is an explosive single player experience with a wicked combination of renowned, competitive, physics-based Trials gameplay and unique, neon-drenched Blood Dragon attitude. Journey through a colorful story with warzones in Vietnam, settling scores in Miami, confronting TV heroes in Tokyo and the odd detour into Space. Hell, you’re gonna go to Hell and back.
The future is back. Are you ready?
  • Watch Dogs 2 Releasing November 15, 2016 & Movie
    • Watch_Dogs 2 is an open world action-adventure game where the San Francisco Bay Area is your living playground and hacking is your weapon to bend the city – and its people – to your will. Step into the shoes of Marcus Holloway, a brilliant hacker, and journey to pull off the Hack of the Century: a crippling shutdown of ctOS 2.0, an invasive technology used by the powerful to silently control everyday citizens.
    • Yuck. The first one was such a disappointment, I really question how they got the funding to do a second one. I know I will be passing on this game.
  • Steep Extreme Sports Releasing TBA
    • Defy and master the world’s most epic mountains on skis, wingsuit, snowboard, and in paraglide. Go solo or drop in side by side with other players. Record and share the most insane stunts ever captured. Dare your friends to try out your custom lines, then challenge the world to beat your best tricks and relive your most epic wipeouts. The mountain is yours to explore. So strap in, suit up, and drop in.

I had a great time watching this showcase, so I’m going to give it a 7/10.
