I have always loved tattoos, but I have none. Mostly because a) don’t have money for them and b) I’m stupid lazy and I am unwilling to put the time in to find a fantastic artist who would make my dreams into ink. So this week’s 5 Fandom Friday is all about geeky tattoos I would want, and who knows I might even end up with one (or more) of them someday.
The first tattoo I would get, or want to get that is, would be for my love of Harry Potter. Harry Potter holds a very special place in my heart, in short, I had a hard time learning to read when I was younger, and I got teased pretty intensely for it. So I hid away in the Harry Potter books. The Trio became my best friends, and Hogwarts my home. The series helped me through so much of my childhood, and taught me so many things about love, and friendship. I would get something pretty similar to the image here, I might make the wand into a lightening bolt but I’m not sure.
Next would be Alice In Wonderland. When I was little I loved the disney animated version and would watch it over and over. I think this minimal tattoo is great, I would want to add in The Cheshire Cat but other than that it hits all the notes I would want represented. Wonderland is just that! Full of wonder and excitement. When I was little I had a very active imagination, and seeing movies, or books that had the same expansive imagination as me was inspiring.
The Hitchhikers Guide to The Galaxy, this sums up my preteen and teenage years pretty much. First of all, fantastic book, good movie. “Don’t Panic” applies to more than just the book for me. My anxiety was at it’s height during my preteen years and well into being a teenager. I have very server social anxiety, and having to be around humans (in general) stresses me out, but it use to stress me out to the point I was throwing up before school because I was so nervous. Learning to control myself, and my mind and not to panic was one of the most difficult things I had to do as a teenager.
World of Warcraft- For the Horde! WoW is something my BF and I bonded over in the first year or so of our dating. While I don’t *love* the game it does represent a ton of hours we spent together. Video games, in general, taught my boyfriend and I to work together, and to have patients with each other. I think these two things are extremely important in a relationship. Playing WoW, I also learned that I love PvP and I started to let my real geekiness shine through.
Last one, Supernatural. Enough said, right? Supernatural is something else my BF and I have bonded over (as well as Sherlock). The show has been on for so long and you really feel like you’ve been on this journey with Sam + Dean.
