The fist of my boxes have started to arrive again. So far in 2016, Birchbox’s shipping has been on point. It use to come anywhere from mid-month to really late in the month. For the last 3 months it’s been in the first two weeks of the month, which is awesome! Way to go Birchbox!
This month their box is themed around international women’s day + women’s history month, the boxes include products that will “amplify your unique features (and help you take on the world!)”.
I usually pick a product I want to receive for sure (or do the featured box) but I didn’t really care about any of the products they were offering, so I left it up to the fates to decide for me. Turns out I made the right choice, another box that I really like. 🙂
Full Size $36
“Weightless, matte-finish mist that sets your look, hydrates skin, and blocks UV rays.”
I haven’t gotten to many COOLA products, but it sounded cool. Until I looked at the ingredients. It’s the inactive ingredients that are “organic” and since it’s not certified organic there is no way of know if it’s actually organic or not. I love natural and certified organic beauty products. I feel like by them putting “organic” in the title they are trying to play into the fad and be able to charge more for their product. When actually using this product I found that the setting spray didn’t really help or last all day. It probably lasted a few hours into my work day. Over all a super disappointing product.
Number 4 Restore & Repair Oil | Full Size $26
“This strand-saving elixer gives drab, dull hair that covered, gleaming shine.”
OMG YAS! I love hair masks and oils, they are awesome and do wonders on my hair. This one made my hair super duper shiny, and a little goes a long way. This sample size is more than adequate for a few months of use for me, and I have super long, color-treated hair. It smells clean and refreshing.
Wilma Schumann Skin Care Hydrating Collagen Eye Pads | Full Size $18
“These 100% pure collagen pads hydrate and plump the skin around your eyes for a bight, youthful look.”
I normally don’t use eye pads or anything like it, but when I play 12+ hours of video games on the weekend, or work over time these feel amazing. My eyes tend to get dried out and I totally get bags.
TreStiQue Color & Smudge Shadow Crayon in Aspen Pine | Full Price $26
“This shadow crayon a creamy formula that stays put for 12 hours, creating a smooth, crease free look every time.”
This is the third shadow crayon stick I’ve gotten and I love them. The sample is a great size, and is all I need. While I do love them they don’t last 12 hours in my experience but they are such rich colors. Additionally $26 is a bit much for one eye shadow.
the Balm Cosmetics Stainiac- Beauty Queen Full Size $17
“Best – selling stain that gives cheeks and lips a sheer, rosy tint.”
I’m less than impressed by this product. It’s more like a lip gloss. It’s super shinny, doesn’t rub into cheeks well. Not good pigment of color.
This month had some pretty great product as well as some not so great. 3/5 – at least they do something well, consistency. And really I was excited to try the make up spray, so really it’s 4/5.
